DetailLA CASASet of two books by Karl Lagerfeld
'Casa Malaparte'
In 1997, the fashion designer went to Capri to photograph the iconic Casa Malaparte. This architectural masterpiece, designed by Adalberto Libera, was built into the rock face between 1938 and 1943.
'The house in the trees'
Only a few buildings in the world illustrate such ancient beauty and mystical charm, Karl Lagerfeld presents us with an extraordinary building called 'La Casa Albero Nella Pineta di Fregene', designed by the architect Perugini in 1967. This experimental building is located in the middle of a group of trees. The wood, concrete and glass construction surrounds a room, with only a few doors, and even the toilets can be seen from below. Beyond a detailed photographic study of this subtle construction, Karl Lagerfeld seems to be using this subject as a pretext to "paint with the camera" his own constructive images.
